    Close... you'd just change the 'excuse me" part to:

    "Discúlpeme, ¿Qué día es hoy?"

    or you could also say, "¿A qué estamos?"

    according to English pronunciation rules...

    jueves = "who-AY-bays"

    sábado = SAH-bah-do

    (all caps mean's that's where the emphasis is)
