Trier's Kaiserthermen, the Imperial Baths of Emperor Constantine, extends 855 feet east to west, and 477 feet from north to south, and is one of the largest monumental ruins (three stories above ground, two stories below) from the world of antiquity. In almost no other complex is it possible to visit such a complicated subterranean passage system.

  • It must have been FREEZING down there in the winter...we were there on a sunny day in April, it was about 78 or 80 outside, but down there...much colder. It felt good though. :)

I love Trier, it's probably my favorite city in Germany, besides Rothenberg ob der Tauber.

  • It was a pretty warm day for winter so it wasn't unbearable. Trier has to be my favorite city in Germany followed by Rothenberg. I have videos of Rothenburg also. I hope it brings back good memories. Thank you for watching.

  • as kids we loved to play tag and hide-and-seek down in these corridors... you would constantly get lost. Today it seems much smaller unfortunately and less confusing (in the end the romans obviously knew how to build according to a proper emergency plan^^)... However, there is one corridor that I remember clearly and that cannot be found today anymore, I presume they made it inaccessible...

  • @shana1966 thats a legend... no one knows when Trier was first ready to be called a city... the romans were just the first to officialy attribute the name "city" to Trier.

  • TRIER WAS FOUNDED BY TREBETA, AN ASSYRIAN PRINCE, CENTURIES BEFORE ANCIENT ROME. TREBETA WAS THE LEGENDARY FOUNDER OF TRIER HE WAS THE SON OF NINUS KING OF ASSYRIA A WIFE PRIOR TO HIS MARRIAGE TO QUEEN SEMIRAMIS. HIS STEPMOTHER SEMIRAMIS DESPISED HIM AND WHEN SHE TOOK OVER THE KINGDOM AFTER THE DEATH OF HIS FATHER NINUS TREBETA LEFT ASSYRIA AND WENT TO EUROPE HE LED A GROUP OF COLONIZERS TO SETTLE AT TRIER AROUND 2000 BC.

  • Heidelburg was great too. ...probably one of my favorite castles. especially the grounds

  • Cool.. I never saw it in the daylight. It was under construction when a friend and I went the wall and snuck into the lower parts. We had to use the light from my camera screen to get around. I so miss Germany.

  • hehe... i got lost in the kaisertherms ^^
