@Norfolkscot there was nothing wrong with there reaction time the tank wasnt leaking didnt you the water house they pulled off the top of the engine be there left the station on the call
-
Say what you like but that was a sloppy turnout from a sloppy looking station and the fact that the tank was leaking says it all.
-
@sethtriggs na we have a 1994 pierce lance and we can see the exaughst
-
@rightboss and even more so as to what sethtriggs is sayin you got like 6 guys on the truck all 6 guys are at the station the time of the call it only takes about 30 seconds or less to get all the gear on its not as bad as it seems
-
so you have guys that switch between day and night shift or do you have a 24 hour shift and then a change.
-
exhaust brake air brake?
-
thanks

Right boss you have to understand city firefighting before you make these ridiculos statements...there probably only going a half a mile from the station which only take a min or two to get to...so they dont need to kill themselves out the door and that isnt that slow...plus the night guys just did a 24 hr shift i bet and maybe they got beat up and are a little tired...when your busy and in the city its different you must not be from a city department or even a career dept
why does e21 not have an exoust tube?

Not sure to be honest. I think the new truck does. Do you mean one of the Plymovents? Maybe it wasn't connected in that case.
I think with the old Pierces, the exhaust pipe is located midships somewhere (maybe under the tank).

Running is actually not a good idea in any case - this is a single-story station, and really rushing just increases a chance of an accident. If you go in calm, collected and such, you are able to stay on task and get the job done.
This is a very good response time, especially for a busy urban district. The call came in actually about 5 seconds or so before the start of the video (I generally get the cue from the dispatch radio when I visit).

thats extremly SLOW reaction time. why does nobody rush to the engine? or get dressed in the engine?
rightboss 5 years ago
Actually no, they're out of the building in a minute, and in this city the stations are relatively close. Buffalo firefighters have average response time *under* 4 minutes. Also note this is just a simple generic call.

can you tell me what the cable that he pulls of the appliance is? theres one which goes in the exhaust pipe as well isnt there? what are they for?

The exhaust pipe is the large dirty yellow tube. The small tube is actually not a cable, but a garden hose. When this 1987 Pierce truck was in service (Just now replaced) it had a leaky water tank. The garden hose helps offset this water loss.
