The Producers is a 1968 comedy film written and directed by Mel Brooks, which tells the story of a theatrical producer and an accountant who attempt to cheat their investors by deliberately producing a flop show on Broadway. The films stars Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder and features Dick Shawn.

The Producers was the first film directed by Mel Brooks, who won an Academy Award for his screenplay.

  • I find myself singing "Springtime for Hitler" all the time when I'm distracted. This movie is one of the funniest ever made.

  • If Zero Mostel, who plays Max in this movie, hadn't died before 1986, I think he would have been a great choice for Mushnik in Frank Oz's Little shop of horrors. But he died in I think 1977 so he couldn't have been in consideration.
