More classy announcing work by ABC veteran George Ansbro.

I started watching AMC as a kid with my mother back in late 1986 or early 1987. The theme sticks in my mind to this day. Shortly after that year, several deaths would hit the next season, most notably Jesse Hubbard from a gunshot wound, and Erica's sister Silver Kane also from a gunshot wound from attempting an attack on Natalie.

@jmsweat they should have never changed it.

Tad the Cad and poor Hillary. Love the promo for OLTL. Max, Tina and Cord..... Cord was hot.

@BauerBro Seriously. You'd enjoy Ellen's stand up routine called "Here and Now" if you haven't seen it already where she talks about modern conveniences and how some of them really aren't necessary... in her own unique "Ellen way" - LOL! Do you remember having "party lines" on your phone? Those were terrible!!
Is that Hillary Wilson in the beret? Also, I TOTALLY remember calling those soap preview numbers on the phone!!! LOL! Ahhhh, the days before the Internet....

@GenXorcist1976 Yes, that's Hillary in the beret. How cool that you actually called those soap numbers. They had all sorts of entertainment phone numbers back in the 80s, as you point out, before the internet. They seem so quaint now, but they made tons of money back then.

@BauerBro Honestly, I sometimes wish I could just go BACK to 1987 when life was so much more simple. Then, there'd be no You Tube.. LOL! Kind of a "Catch-22", right?

@GenXorcist1976 Yep, it is a Catch-22. Also, almost everyone in that 1987 promo is using a phone with a CORD on it. I sure don't miss them. This was only 23 years ago, but how telephone technology has changed!

My sister watched this show like crazy back then. Every show has it's iconic theme/closing sequence, and for AMC, this was their's for 20 years. Should have NEVER changed it. Production/television execs are so f------ stupid. LOL, you know they're missing the fan base this show had then -- I hear it's bombing now.

You're right, they should never have changed the theme music. They could have updated it every few years with more contemporary arrangements (as GH has done), but when they pulled this music, AMC lost a lot of its identity.
