So im guessing in the developing brain the connections die off that are not used and considered waste? But then, does the remaining neurons develop to give stronger signals to suit purpose?

If so, then overstimulating toddlers or babies (large diversity), should sustain a highly connected smart brain.

I'm still a bit indecisive on the basic measure of intelligence (basically the speed at which a brain can use its resources to solve a new problem).

@SSuperCuriouss if what you mean by overstimulating is that we should expose young children to a wide variety of stimuli, then I'd definitely agree with you. we don't want to necessarily drown them in stimuli, but making sure they get a wide range of experiences is essential

Is multiple axons neuronal connection the reason why toddlers have no memory of their toddlerhood?

@Nades129 Good question, it seems like it would have something to do with it. but i'd also wager that at that stage of our brain's development it wouldn't make evolutionary sense to spend resources consolidating memories when you still have many many basic rules to learn about the world around you.
