Los Angeles Cityscape of Day Into Night Traffic. The intensity and speed of the light streaks is determined by how long the shutter is kept open for each exposed frame of film.

  • I should note that in some ways the digital still cameras can be less expensive to use, but more limiting as well. Film cameras don't really care how long the exposure is, whereas digital still cameras may have limits as to how much intense light they can absorb.

  • I use an actual film super-8 film camera that does time-exposure. Some cameras such as Eumigs and Nizo's offer the time-exposure feature.

In the world of digital video, some still higher end digital still cameras allow for this type of filming as well. Super-8 cameras have about 3600 frames per cartridge so one film cartridge can last quite awhile.

Costs include film cartridge, processing, then transfer to the video format of your choice.
