I'm 14. The other day my friends and I were in the car on the way back from the coast, when I suddenly burst out with 'doo doo doo, doo do do doo'. my friends joined in. We just sang that bit over and over until eventually one of us screamed out 'what the hell was that song ? I remember is so clearly, but I can't even think of that it's called !' none of us could recall. Thank the lord for smartphones. I don't think we'd have made it home not knowing what that damn catchy song was. Thankyou goo

I don't think most people are getting what this song is about. It's how they're both screwed because of their fucked up life habits, but still addicted to this life (both literally and metaphorically), but they hate it and are scared. They just want to go back to the days when they were a happy couple.
So, yes, this song is about drugs and sex, but more about how he and the girl want a life with more, but are scared to change and at the same time scared to stay the same. Do doo do.
