Try 720HD mode. This video is a test for the 250-300w Power Jack and Sun Grid Tie inverters (GTI). Efficiencies ran from 55 to 69%. These are likely typical but they are actually unit unique. Your results may differ.

NOTE: These inverters are rated at peak power. In reality, they should not be operated continuously much beyond 50% of that peak rating. The losses in the units manifest themselves as heat, and it is this heat that will cause them to shutdown and/or fail. The fan in the SUN-250G (10.8V version) comes on at approximately 100w of output).

  • what about if the meter where to to go backwards during the day and go forward during the night? Will they still be able to tell? Sorry for so many questions. Just dont want trouble from the power company

  • @mgyabes1985 The rotating meters, no, they can't tell. If your end of month number is lower than the prior month then they might flag it. They also can tell if your usage is way down for the month they might investigate.

  • I still have the old meter on my house. Will they be able to find out if you are using a GTI? What would happen if you put back power to the grid?

  • @mgyabes1985 They can't tell anything unless you are putting more into the grid than you are using. The mechanical ones slow down and even go backwards.

  • Is it legal to use this plug and play grid tie inverters? Have you had any trouble with your electric company finding out you are using a GTI?

  • @mgyabes1985 It varies by area. If all you do is offset you own usage then there should be no problem.

  • i have had several of these type of gti's. they all are over rated. i had two power jack 1200 watt gti's on a 1300 watt solar bank. the max each gti would put out was around 450 watts each. the smaller ones were even worse. the fact that i get about 6 monthes out of them before the crap out is even worse.

  • Cant believe Ive ben an electrician for 25 years and have not done this yet... The power co. has no problem charging YOU for usage but if you dont use any and give them some ill bet they are not obligated to pay you. Thing is they are getting that extra for free and then making money off of it. I would give my extra power to needy neighbors...

  • @MrSquidBrains wait of money bad design all ways broken no protection on the 240 volt ac side any fast power on off will burn out your inverter .the inverter make 230 watt at 28 volt dc thats ok but not long . in one year all my 5 inverters was broken all on 240 volt side and some of them on the dc side. the 500 watt from the same brand the same i buy 5, 4 of them are broken in less than 4 months. now after repair repair at my own cost with orginal parts i keep them running crap
