The "Egyptian Gardens"had absolutely nothing to do with Egyptians. It was owned by Greeks and was a place where people went to listen to this type of music end enjoy the beautiful Belly dancers.The above mentioned song captures the feeling and tone to a tee. It would be great if we could leave political correctness out and just enjoy this great music Peace to all.

I've always loved this band, first saw them in '67 or '68 in the Haight Ashbury at the Straight Theater.

I wonder how this song would be viewed by Egyptian music critics who involved themselves in the overthrow of the Mubarak regime? Am I right in hearing Yiddish melodies? Just now I discovered thru a google search & a youtube video that there was a club in NYC 1968 called "Egyptian Gardens". Not hard to believe that the band is referencing that place.
