Although Ciccolini puts in some interesting rhetorical pauses, Berman's performance is the best overall.

I ADORE Lazar Berman's 'heavy-handed' piano Art!
-
Some of the perceived colorlessness is due to recording values. His approach is a bit more lyrical than Berman's more dramatic one, too, which a lover of bravura will find somewhat disappointing. I don't personally find this to be an indightment of the interpretation. After all, some would find Berman's heavy-handed. I like them both, personally. They both give interesting and contrasting ideas about how to approach this piece.

this is fast, clean but colorless.. listen to how Berman interpret it, so colorful

What a cataclysm!!!!

The tempo notation is presto furioso. I don't think anyone could take it too fast.
