Combining an oral appliance with CPAP is taking advantage of using the best attributes of both therapies. The oral appliance holds the jaw forward allowing a lowering of CPAP pressures and also eliminates the mask. With the stability of the CPAP interface there is much less opportunity for air leaks as the patient shifts positions during sleep.
