Hey iamitchy. Good video, however, you may want to read this news article, posted a few days ago about antidepressants vs suicide rates:
tinyurl . com / dfsd5y
"Professor David Cottrell, spokesman for the charity Young Minds and dean of medicine at the University of Leeds, said the results could suggest the risk of suicide with antidepressants was all a "big red herring"
Drugs aren't the answer in lots of cases of course, but in some cases, they are the only answer.

Medicine, science, technology are always being revised because we are forever evolving. We are getting smarter, which is why they will always be changing and improving things. And a big part of depression in kids is small minded social standards, removing homosexuality from the DSM was a big step in social sanity. I cant even imagine how many kids have been put on anti depressants when all along their cure is to just stop bullying in schools.

@AircraftEngineer1 Most people dont join religion on their own, its typically forced on them when they are children. Secondly, they are not fictitious labels, they can be diagnosed by matching symptoms up with the said disorder.. just like how doctors diagnose sickness of the body. And last most people seek out psychiatrists because they have problems they WANT fixed, they are given options on how to treat their problems...most people just choose the drugs because its easier.

I have a question for any psychatist : Who are you to tell me I am not normal

Having dealt with psychiatry for some time, from age 8 to age 15, I'd like to point some things out.
1) depression does terrible things to you, i attempted suicide at age 8, before going on medication.
2) it IS experimental. we still do not fully understand the intricacies of the human mind, much as we presume to.
3) most of psychiatry's legal problems are in the US. Here in canada they all genuinely want to help.
4) they change their diagnoses as new information presents itself.
-
and if that dos not work then you need something to help you. the US health care system is only there for people to make money and that is the problem
-
medication has its place. the problem is in America the if the person has health insurance or access to money you will have people handing drugs out like they are sweets (candy). i think i rember a case in the US were they were keeping children in because their family could afford and when they ran out of funds they were OK to go home
if you can get rid of depressive of violent moods with medditaion then you did not need drugs. but there is a small group of people who that dos not work

Feel free to PM me on this topic if you like.

If psychiatrists developed "cures," they'd be out of a business really quick. There are no cures in psychiatry that I know of, only neurochemical treatments that help to cope with a condition.
Expanding on this topic requires a more extended discussion. How about we discuss this by PM? And I am intrigued and delighted you are asking for an evidence based debate. Very refreshing to encounter someone with a good intellect for a debate. How about it?

Don't get mad at the Scientologists even though they're a cult too. At least they do not force people to join them and make up a bunch of silly ficticious labels for people they don't even know, like Psychiatrists do. At least everyone who is a Scientologist joined on their own volition. Psychiatry is just another man-made religion/cult, with no scientific truth, using a DSM manual made up from pure fiction. Backed up by the Corporate Fascists . Shrinks are worst than Scientologists.

When I hear shrink i thin of speaking to some one not drugs as it seems to be in the US.
The fact that the Scientology target this profession is kind of silly since the system it self has to change, parents needs to take more responsibily educate them self, getting prescription drug is so easy in the states that its ridicules.Blaming the shrinks for it it's a laugh check the companies making the profit it's like with the health system....
-
Thanks for uploading I think it might be a culture diffrence I don't know any one that ever went to see a shrink that got the type of medication you americans seems to be getting...I do relise that there are people that are put under various medication..I seriously think that the system has to change in the states over all the money machine behind the companies benefitting from the majority of the people on drugs seems to be way too much it has to be reformed!

I agree that there are some conditions that appear to be made up. But then you get extreme disorders like schizophrenia that really do take a huge toll on people's lives - emotionally and physically. People who don't get treated for things like that usually don't because they listen to criticism of the psychiatric field and are too ashamed to seek treatment. I think criticism is welcome, it's a field of science after all, but you should make sure you're targeting the right audience.

Apparently I failed to grasp your question, as you intended it to be understood, so my reference to Jesus must have sounded a bit odd, but strange as it may have sounded,. I don't separate the scientific realm of mental health, from the cause and effect relationship I have noticed between my well being and my ability to forgive. I hope that makes more sense.

08.15. "it's like it's an experimental science". Yes, that's right. isn't that wonderful?
-
I see your arguement - and I agree that it's likely that medication is over prescribed and that other therapies (such as cognitive behavioral therapy) would be a better alternative.
However, the CCHR is opposed to ALL psychiatry, psychology etc with made up "evidence" and half- truths yet offers no real alternative ("auditing" is largely useless if not harmful).
All the $cientology front groups have a thin veneer of respectability...until you dig and find their real intentions.

you are so full of common sense and sanity. On top of that you have a great way of formulating what you say in a very likeable way. You also seem so serene.
I bet you are a good father yourself or partner, or maybe both. God bless!

I've been involved in voluntary work with youth groups and abused children for the past 15 years. As a teenager I voluntered at the local animal shelter. Even during my lowest points, I always took an interest in others outside myself. I've regulary attended support groups for sufferers of depression, and many of them too have similar involvments outside themselves. Not all people with depression are self-obsessed, sitting around the house all day moping. We do try to just live normal lives.

Well...Jesus?...Forgiveness? I thought we were talking about suicide, psychiatry, drugs, and how we determine the value of expertise.
I will withdraw from this discussion hoping you see my intentions were to understand what you meant in your video about suicide, drugs, psychiatry, and the value of expertise. I did not realise you were talking about forgiveness and the wisdom of Jesus. My apologies and good night.
I also want to caution you about your skepticism towards experts. When you're talking about experts not knowing everything - you'll find that true experts freely admit that they don't, but they keep trying to find the real solutions, These are the people to put your trust in. Don't go the polar opposite and put your faith in non-professionals just because they have a new idea, That's how people get roped into cults & scams. A new idea does not equal a good idea.

I'm only addressing peoples automatic acceptance of so called experts, as they could do no wrong because of their title. As were learn time and time again, a degree in it self in no guarantee your not dealing with a complete madman. Look up "unnecessary operations", and you will get a good idea of what I'm saying.
