  • I have this racquet now, strung at 62. The strings I have in it now are wilson sensation 17...I feel like i could get something better out of the racquet with better strings...I hit a very flat ball with power, what do you suggest for strings?

  • @AJDinger43,

Wilson NXT 16 would be a good choice. It will offer great comfort and feel and good power. The 16 gauge will also be decently durable and you should find the tension and playability to last the life of the string.

  • @tenniswarehouse: I have the Blade 98 strung with Black Code @ 54lbs and it feels great at the baseline with tons of power and decent spin. However the control is not as good as what I'm used to (switching from Poly Plasma). My WC Mosquito Bite is on the way but I want to know the differences already, could you guys please hook me up on that? And for MB + BLX98, is there any tension recommendation? Thank you in advance.

  • @ductrung3993,

We used Mosquito Bite in this stick during the playtest and loved it. We strung at mid tension. You should find a softer response from the Mosquito Bite, partly due to its thin gauge. It will sound tighter than it is when strung up, again, due to the high pitch sound from the thin gauge. We found it very, very spin-friendly, and that should help you find some additional control.

  • @tenniswarehouse im coming from a nxt control in this racket at 56 lbs

what tension should i use for the mosquito bite strings...i want to hold on to the feeling of the ball through contact. Do you have any ideas?

  • @neilk831,

The mosquito is a pretty thin string, so try right around mid. Another option is to keep it reasonably similar to what you previously strung at with the nxt control and go about 2lbs lower than the tension you're used to.

  • Please add some tennis tips to the video series too. (other than product reviews). something like gotta want it but with some specific drills

  • @alexrebo,

This racquet offers some really nice power thanks to its higher swingweight. Other options which are lighter and easier to swing would include: Wilson Pro Tour BLX, Babolat AeroPro Drive, Prince EXO3 Black, Volkl Organix 8, Head Youtek IG Extreme and the Dunlop 400 Tour to name but a few.

  • I've had this racquet for a couple of years and have absolutely loved it, but over the last few months, as I've gotten stronger, my shots are starting to go consistently long. Chris, do you think that it would be better to add some lead tape or a new string set up, or do both? (At the moment, I'm using Luxilon Big Banger Rough in my mains, and Prince Premier Lt 17, strung at 56 lbs)

    Much appreciated

  • @tenniswarehouse Thanks a ton Chris. That sounds interesting and I'm very fond of the Blackcode's sound already. And I notice that you had been answering my other 2 cmts as well so thank you x 3 ;)

  • @playstation107,

If you are looking to maximize spin and control, yes. If you are looking for power and comfort, not so much.

  • is rpm blast 17 good for this racquet?
