The World Footbag Championships are now underway at the Oakland California Convention Center. It's a sport that requires some coordination and agility, but only a small bag to do. Carry it with you and play anywhere. It looks like a fun way to get some exercise. Tim Vozar tells us all about the sport of footbag and its equipment. Unfortunately I did not use my DM-100 directional microphone resulting in more extraneous noise during the interviews than necessary You can find an excellent article by Justin Berton in the August 3, 2010 San Francisco Chronicle, pp C1-2. I shot this with a Canon HF11 in Sport Mode.
@byacommoncold Could you please send me a link to a video that shows what you would like to see.
Thanks
Robert

@roblewis56 But its the piss poor job the media (and you) just have done to make footbag look like a joke.
So often the media just makes fun of us as a bunch of "weed smoking hippies" and your footage didn't help make the sport look appealing. I've watched it a few times, trying to find something redeeming. But instead you went after something to get a quick and easy project to just simply get your name on something. Did you even interview a freestyler? Or even film freestyle?

@byacommoncold There are so many activities in the San Francisco Bay Area that it is difficult to get noticed. So do not despair, but keep trying to promote your sport. Come up with as many creative ways you can think of until you find what works. If you have a promotional video post to YouTube and distribute the link to health clubs, athletic departments for example. Anyway what ever you are doing now is not working so you need to try something else. Stand on street corners and demonstrate.

@roblewis56 Ya I saw it on ABC, it was horrid. All that hard work the people put in only to have the American media ignore/scoff/make fun of it? They didn't even use any of the little freestyle footage you shot.
Sorry but just because we're on tv, doesn't mean it helps the sport. Just remember how much power film makers wield of what they shoot.

@byacommoncold Thank you for your comment. You have an interesting sport. It requires little in the way of equipment so can be done just about anywhere. Yet, even though it has been around for decades it is not well known, perhaps because it is harder than it looks. So I understand your frustration. I had never heard of it before the SFChronicle article. I did submit it to the local ABC TV channel 7 and it was featured by Mike Shumann the sports anchor. So you got some publicity there.
