This is the take of from Kimana airstrip in Kenya enroute to the Mara game reserve an hours flight from Kimana.we fly over the game reserve and over the Lake Magadi which is Kenya's southernmost lake.It occupies the lowest level of a vast depression in the great rift valley, and its bed consists almost entirely of solid or semisolid soda. Lake Magadi is 20 miles long and 2 miles wide.
That is fantastic video coverage. I actually lived in Magadi in 1982-85. My Father worked for Magadi Soda Company. He was sent there by the now non-existent Imperial Chemical Industries (what was a huge British Chemical company. Are you certain that is Magadi? I couldn't see the town - unless the definition is not terrific. I don't recognise the shape of the lake either. I remember it being very pink - from the baked dry tronah (alkali and soda)
