  • Just one question. How did you acquire that posh accent? Was it difficult?

  • @spitharoo I did actually work on the accent, thanks for asking. I listened closely to friends who spoke "correctly" and made a conscious effort to speak as they did, not dropping aitches, gees etc. I do slip back into Cockney occasionally though, according to my wife.

  • What a great read. I think that a video version of this book would be an incredible sell!!! Well done!

  • Brilliant! What fun this is going to be. Cannot wait to see it in the movie form... still think Colin Firth is meant to play Dennis.

  • @ProdigalTourist That's interesting. My Mum, although a Cockney who doesn't speak too badly has a Cockney friend who speaks very very posh. Perhaps it comes from her having been a milliner and rubbing shoulders with the gentry I don't know. :-) Anyway. That was many moons ago.

Your description of the boiler over the bath took me back to my teenage years when I had to fill a pan with hot water from it to wash my hair. It had a pilot light if I remember correctly.

  • your geminy's mate from France Hugh

  • Denis, so easy this one, talk about yourself......

  • That's hilarious. I met my ex boyfriend's parents in Dagenham two years ago.

  • Wonderfully done!

  • Excellent! Truly excellent. The text could not be more engaging and darned if the reader doesn't come close.

  • Oh wonderful!!! It is great and I just love the accents! What does Frances think of your impersonation of her???

  • I love it , keep up the great work!
