This is a video of the world record for the song "Synthesized" on Insane difficulty in the PS2 game Amplitude (with a score of 10711). Performed by Infil in February 2006, and recorded and captured by my good friend SnapDragon. Full combo, with incredibly hard track transitions and optimal score doubler/freestyle usage. And no, this is not emulated. It took me about 6 hours to get this run. :P

This score is roughly 3000 points higher than the next verified score. Enjoy!

  • Damn. Noticed that little miss with the bass line at the end. Good thing you had an auto blaster. I would've been so pissed off to go through all those brutal tracks. Just to get f'd over by a bass line.

  • @quixoticMoon It was an intentional miss. Note how I get more points for autoblasting the bass and playing the drum track (in that order) than any other 3-measure combination! If I play the drum track first (then autoblast the bass), that specific 2-bar drum segment is worth less points than the 2-bar drum segment 1 measure later. And, of course, freestyle is worth more than playing the song, so I finish with that.

  • What i dont understand.. is why your missing things on purpose in the beginning. Is there really a set rhythm your supposed to follow in each song? Either way, incredible playing. I guess i never could get that dedicated with this game. So much better then all the popular music games out now though.

  • @DriftAnime When you play a track, it respawns something like 8 measures later, but the powerups are set in place when you choose the song from the menu. That means if you play tracks in a certain order, you can miss good powerups while the track is unavailable. My misses at the beginning are intended to stagger the "availability" of the tracks so all the good powerups 30+ measures away will line up in an optimal way. (As you can see, optimizing an Amplitude song is hard work!)

  • I used to be fantastic at this game, and frequency. But I had never thought of capturing video, I just played to keep up my hand/eye coordination and for the music. But one thing is for sure, I can't seem to play this game much at all on my HDTV on my PS3. It's frustrating, as if they're is some inate lag in the system - yet even after months of no play, if I put it in my slim PS2 and set it up on a SDTV, I do fine. I wonder if all HDTV's are like that, does anyone else have this issue?

  • @livingxxgod Yeah, some (many) HDTVs, especially older ones, have brutal lag in them. Unfortunately there's really no fix for this. Another problem: I believe the back-compatible PS3s actually have inherent lag in them when running PS2 software. I read somewhere that it's about 4 frames of lag; people who tried to play old fighters on BC PS3s reported the same problems. I think the problem is on both your PS3 and your TV. :( Just have to play on a CRT with your PS2, I suppose.

  • by far my favorite track on amplitude... believe it or not this track actually got me into electronic music something like 6 or 7 years ago... even though vie listened to thousands of different electronic songs by now,( dubstep, trance, ect)... this is still one of my favorite songs to listen to. I used to replay this on my ps2 all the time for the fun of it, i remember getting 99 and 98 percent, and ur right, freestyle with x8 is the trick ;)

  • @franki7860 l1 r1 and r2 are faster than using just one thumb for square triangle and circle... i remember having to make the witch cuz i couldn't do anything on insane mode

  • wha was the band for this song?

  • this timing this is INSANE. I remember playing this, I remember being good at it, But I never would have considered intentionally missing for good benefits. But then again, i didn't really have a need to compete since I didn't have any online. This is SICK though, Big ups to whoever did this.

  • @AmpliFreQ3107 i still own this game for my ps2. and i play it all the time.

  • Dude, Holy shit!!! im good at this game, but no way am i that good. Which method do u use? the thumb,(square, triangle, circle) or the triggers L1, R1, and R2? i can beat this game on brutal but ive never been able to beat it on insane.

  • did your fingers fucking hurt?

  • HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO PLAY THAT FAST. I'M ON SLIPKNOT-I AM HATED ON INSANE,AND I CANT PLAY THAT FAST
