Divers should be aware of very sharp edges on the hatch cover that just dangles from the bridge roof by a couple of angle iron supports, and should use caution while swimming through the bridge. The hatch, which evidently caved in under pressure from the sinking, may pose a threat to divers swimming over it unaware of its potential threat. Eventually the remaining supports, which are now badly bent, will corrode and the entire hatch will fall into the bridge. You don't want to be under there when it happens.

On a lighter Vandenberg note, the following is another clue to where the Atocha coin is hiding; "If you're swimming North over the center of the ship, the coin will be on your regulator side." So if you've been following the previous clues, you'll note that 75% of the ship has been eliminated. More clues to come- Stay tuned!

On the next clip, Capt. Jon and I are visited by some media folks who have taken a liking to our Vandenberg jaunts and join us on a couple of descents to the wreck for a photo shoot.

  • Hey Pat thanks for posting this. I was hoping to make a Vandenberg during DEMA but the economy out here in NV is not improving very much.
