Using copper braid (solder sucker) to desolder.
Leave Iron to heat up set it to a low wattage. (If possible) Apply braid over joint place tip on braid and heat the joint via the braid.
Watch as the braid soaks up the molten solder. May need to repeat it with new section of braid (snip it off with some scissors).
Check my profile for desoldering with pump.

  • Good video. How exactly does a desoldering braid work? I know how to use one, but what makes it "absorb" the solder?

  • Do you solder much? Anyhow, I'm sure you've done it at least once before. Have you seen when you get the solder heated up and the joint is nice and clean it gets sucked into the join? That's called "wetting" like how water on your cotton shirt will soak into the cloth and not bead on the surface, desoldering braid wets more easily than the joint, because it has flux on it and is clean. It literally sucks the soaks the solder off the joint. Like cloth would do to a bead of water on grease paper.
