This is a clip from Brian Swimme's video "The Hidden Heart of the Cosmos" - posted with his permission. In this section, Brian Swimme - http://www.brianswimme.org/ - speaks about where we are in the Universe, a sense of the ever-present Origin, how we live in an omnicentric Universe. He also speaks of this in his DVD series "The Canticle to the Cosmos". Brian Swimme's telling of this story is one that has inspired PaGaian Cosmology (http://pagaian.org) and our celebration of the seasonal wheel of the year, particularly in preparation for the Winter Solstice ritual which is a celebration of the Birth of All, of Manifest Form, the Gift of Being, from the Dark Womb of the Cosmos.

The video that this clip is taken from may no longer be available, but Brian Swimme has also written of this in his book "The Hidden Heart of the Cosmos". His "Canticle to the Cosmos" is available at http://www.brianswimme.org/store/product.asp?pID=17&cID=1

  • It would be nice if it were true.

  • @SuperZekethefreak - well just think: from wherever you are (or from wherever anyone is ), every direction is INFINITY right?

  • In another piece from the Canticle of the Cosmos, Brian says that chlorophyll was created so that life could capture the light from the sun. And now the human has been created so that we can capture the depth of things. I love that. Live in order to capture the depth of things and you are fulfilling the dream of the cosmos. It makes a good life anyway!

  • @Video2Webb

yes isn't that cool! I think it is in the next clip that we are planning to post or in the one we just posted "Suns Energy and Relationship with Earth's Life" ... did you see that one?

  • @Video2Webb

yeah cool again! I have a related rap on my website homepage about that awareness this month - pagaian.org

  • Thank you!

  • @me The reason we seem to be at the center of everything is only because the CMBR is a snapshot of time limited by how much light can get to us. It covers a small 13.7 billion LY bubble in the Universe with Earth at the center. Superluminal light allows us to see much farther into the huge Universe. The "Finger of God" effect is one of several illusions making it seem that we are at the center of it all, at least until you understand how it really works. The Universe is much more sublime...

  • @me That toroid has a bow-shock indicating the angular-momentum of our Universal-star relative to the domain it exists within. You can call this the Multiverse, I like that term, its sexy. Redshift is largely an illusion affected by the movement of the Earth, the Solar System, the Galaxy, the Local-Cluster and how many other dozens of domains we are part of. It's called "Relative" Redshift. NASA is crafting Blue-shift telescopes now which will rewrite Hubble's rudimentary understanding.

  • @pagaian Think in terms of domains. Our Galaxy is a domain, our Local Cluster is a domain, our Super-Cluster is a domain, there are many others on up to the limits of the Universal domain. Obviously our Universe is an exploded star that went Nova. We have found evidence of the Universal dipole and a toroidal magnetosphere and the Cosmic Web are obviously filiments in a nebulous Galaxy-nursery.

  • Yes,we are exactly in the cebtre of everything,at the same time we are also in the most common place of the universe,is only a matter of point of views...i think dangerous to see ourselves only in the centre....

  • "We have discovered that we are in a universe that is expanding and is centered upon itself at each place of its expansion. In this universe of ours, to be in existence, is to be at the center of the cosmic expansion."

And this changes our sense of identity from the local to the cosmic. It not only gives us a 'place in the universe'. It gives us an orientation and a way of recognizing our incredible value as beings who hold the universe's powers within us.
