My surgery was in December 2011 (the nerve transfer from the median and ulnar nerve to the musculo-cutaneous and the accessory nerve to the suprascapular). Now I'm waiting for the results of the operation and get the recovery treatment.
I would like to ask you some questions. I will hope that you will answer them).

Hi, Adam! Please, sorry for my English))). The results of the operation are great! I am glad for you! Thanks for this video, it gives me hope that I will be all right soon too...
After a car accident in 2011 I had brachial plexus injury. There was avulsion of the C5 and C6 roots from the spinal cord. I had no use of my biceps or shoulder. I did had use of my triceps, some forearm and use of my hand. Besides,I had sensory disorders in the hand.

what kind of motorcycle accident? i have damaged a nerve in my shoulder come where in the c5 root losing all movement in my deltoid, supraspinatus, and infraspinatus . I am waiting for news if i need nerve transfer surgery or not. How long of recovery time did it take you to gain initial movement back? Thanks
Please, tell me, how much time has passed since the operation was done till you got the first twitch of muscle activation? And how much time has passed before you could bend the arm at the elbow itself? Please describe in detail your program of rehabilitation and physical therapy after surgery. How often do you spend electrical stimulation of muscles?
I'm really looking forward to your reply!)

@Succesexy Sorry it's taken me a bit to respond. I've started a new job that keeps me really busy (proof that this injury doesn't have to hold you back in life!). Please keep in mind that it's been 7 years since my injury and I'm trying to remember... but, I think it took 3-4 months before I started to get muscle twitches back. They started in my biceps and 2-3 more months before my shoulder started to get twitches. I guess I started to be able to flex my arm some (at elbow)...

@RomulusRaven ... around the 3-4 month range. Please keep in mind that all surgeries are different and get different results too. Plus, doctors have come a long way since I had my surgery as well. Keep up the hope and seek God during this time. That is my best advice. As for rehab, I don't remember doing a lot of it (then again I'm comparing this to a knee injury that was long, painful, and required learning how to walk again). I did do a good bit of stretching of my arm...

@RomulusRaven ... and practicing flexing. I did this throughout the day (not so much in formal rehabilitation). I did use some of the electrical stimulation of the muscles, but not nearly as much as I should have. If I could do one thing over again it would be working out with that more and more formal 'exercise' of my arm. I think I was pretty discouraged at the time and that made me want to ignore and forget my arm more than anything. I hope this helps and encourages you a bit

@RomulusRaven Congrats on your surgery and best wishes for the future! I know it's a long and painful process, but you'll be happy you did it in the end.
