Seismic Life : Geco Topaz

This is a film about life on board a seismic survey vessel. My aim was to show what we do at work and at play. Our schedule is usually 5 weeks away, 5 weeks back home. We have six teams on board: Navigation, Acquisition, Data Processing, Maritime, and Catering. I tried to get footage of everyone, but of course it was not easy to do in the normal course of a busy shift. However, my crew showed tremendous patience under the gaze of my lens, and for that I am more than grateful.

@mackdog85diesel2 Obviously there are a number of different roles shown in the film. Seismic crew are generally, but not always, graduates in a science, engineering, or electronics. Marine crew have their own career paths, often starting with a background in the merchant navy. There are four companies that vie for the biggest seismic jobs: WesternGeco, PGS, CGG and Fugro. A smattering of smaller companies pick up the pieces...
