Documentation of the construction and dressing of the set for Sheena Dean's photographic tableux: "The Lost Parade" with a commentary by the artist.

A photographic tableaux of various mental health service users dressing in costumes to express aspects of their personal journey. But I don't need to say much more here... you can watch the video and hear what Sheena has to say.

Stylistically, I see this video as something of an homage to Janet Street-Porter.
It was produced entirely using Open-Source/Free software: the time lapse was recorded direct to hard-disc using a custom XUbuntu installation and DVGrab and the post-production was done on Ubuntu using Kino, FFMpeg and my own Python image-processing scripts. It was mostly shot on a delicious Sony DCR-VX2000E but you'll notice the quality of the time-lapse images drop abruptly when the Sony is needed for other shots and I use my little JVC GR-D50EK instead.
