From pop to rock, electronics to swing, Erin McKeown has packed a ton of music into her young career. This songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist brings her sunny mezzo-soprano voice and electric guitar to MiND TV to discuss and perform her cover version of the 1941 jazz standard "Rhode Island Is Famous For You". Erin also performs her original song "Melody", an exuberant, ragtime song dedicated to the glories of melody itself. Both songs are from Erin's album "Sing You Sinners". Also, check out Erin's performances of "White City" and "You, Sailor".

  • @verdicriez no

  • WOW!!! You really knock me out with both your voice and your talent on the guitar. You have a brand new fan.

  • Wonderful song, underrated! Thank you.

  • This is such an amazing song, i love her voice. I want to see an over the top performance for this. Very much one of the coolest American songs.

  • I can't speak to the guitar playing (it sounds alright to me) but the quality of the vocals on this rendition of 'Rhode Island' is dreadful. I'm not sure what she was trying to do, but her poor diction renders the lyrics almost unintelligible and the speed at which she spews them strips away all their humor - give us a little time to savor them! If you want to hear this song done well, find a copy by John Pizzarelli.

  • i love her "subtle" guitar style.

  • @imafishgod Baby your the Best thing that ever came from R.I 333

  • @Ottawarocket Your LiL R.I. Lady in Red Loves My Canadian Man & his FANTASTIC taste in music!! :) ♥

  • LOve this : ) My Lady is from Rhode Island

  • Blossom Dearie sings "Rhode Island" much better. She doesn't divide each word with short, awkward breaths, and end a word abruptly before it's even fully sung. Erin girl has a voice... and she plays amazingly! She also has a really sweet smile that makes up for the way she kind of butchered "Rhode Island'.

But her song "Melody" is reallllllly great. I loved it! I guess some songs are just more fitting for her voice. I'd definitely listen to her sing "Melody" again.
