Cheyanne mountian is stil operating, but there function is just bassicly tracking aircraft and handling hijacking situtions, but can still serve the purpose of tracking inbound warheads, although they cant really do much of anything as to transmit launch orders, they can issue scramble orders to shoot down hijacked aircraft.

Lava? it isnt a volcano.... I dont know the details, Im sure it wouldnt be fun to be inside the blast doors though when a 20 megaton nuclear warhead hit though. If your outside the blast doors though, forget about it, your either vaporized or burnt toast.
