I am a teacher. I don't like this ongoing slogan and discussion of "bad teachers." I get it. There are bad employees in any profession. I am a teacher and I think I'm pretty good. Are there terrible ones? Of course. They get fired I thought this movie was terrible. It's really just an anti-union movie by a filmmaker who didn't care to check his facts. They praise Finland for their test scores, but do *not* mention that 95% of their teachers in Finland are unionized.

I loved how she was featured in that terrible movie "Waiting for Superman" after that montage of all the DC public school leaders that had talked about change and quit a few years later. Michelle Rhee only stayed a few years. Then she quit. Dumb bitch.

@stardust1111 As a college student currently studying this whole situation, the way I see it, Rhee has tried her best to reform the D.C. public school systems. Granted, she's not the savior of the D.C. public schools, but then again, I don't think any one person will be. There are countless teachers that are bad. I think Rhee has done her best to seek out these teachers and make sure they don't add to the problems that an urban student already has to overcome.

Several points:

1, D.C. schools improved when under her direction

2, tenure is not a "right"

3, a majority of teachers working over 10 years can be identified as burn-outs

4, new/younger teachers have more motivation and cost less to employ

Criticisms such as this fail to address the key issue: public schools in D.C. (as well as many other parts of the country) are woefully underperforming. A much more productive endeavor would be to suggest a plan to remedy that situation.

So glad you made this. I hope she DOES get what she deserves. Unfortunately, she has convinced everyone she is an expert although she has no real credentials. She has had a horrible influence on Florida which just passed SB 736 which will pay teachers according to student's performance on tests. No one really knows how this will work., but they passed it anyways. No funding, teacher tenure is gone, everyone is on one year contracts. New teachers, dont come to Florida!
