When our forefathers established this great nation, they didn't have socialist or communist ideals.

@NerfDeathcoil - You are correct about that, of course, as neither communism or socialism existed in 1776. I think what you mean is that somehow single payer, California OneCare is a communist or socialist notion. It's not, any more than the fire department, the police department, the highways, or the judicial system is. California OneCare is simply a public financing mechanism for receiving health care in the same way that you do today--from private doctors, hospitals, labs and clinics.
