These pullups are a cheat. You create horizontal momentum with your legs and transfer it to the vertical thus taking work away from the muscles responsible for pulling your body up. This is fine if you want to conserve energy during a climb up a radio tower or something but if you want to build muscle and strength. DON'T CHEAT. Do the work.

I honestly see no benefit in doing pullups with momentum. I appreciate the viewpoint behind CrossFit, but doing "as many reps as possible" without focusing on form and technique does little for conditioning and building strength. If anything, it's terribly damaging on the joints and ligaments.
