This is a video of what Osteochondritis Dissecans really is. Plus some real live footage from a right elbow surgery with someone who has this condition.
I was diagnosed with OCD after 2 surgeries and around 2 years waiting time, being told that i would never have what is considered a 'normal' elbow. Being a 19 year old active Male this is somewhat of a blow. As i was waiting for my second operation review I was surrounded by patients with much more severe and life changing injuries. These things happen in life and you have to deal with them, it can change your whole outlook on life and i'm thankful im just otherwise healthy. Keep positive!
i was just diagnosed with OCD of left knee, my knee is locked and almost contracted for three weeks now. mine is at the stage where they have to either replace my knee or put i a large plug of transplant bone. The Dr doing it says he has never seen a hole so big in a knee and it will be his first time doing the surgery. I am freaking out right now. I have surgery in about two weeks.
about a year and a half ago i got it in my elbow from baseball and i still cant straighten my elbow ohh and i went back into baseball a couple months l8r
@lileichina96 i had the surgery and was told to never play sports again, so i didnt for the first 3 years. when i started playing again i had discomfort but it actually strengthened the muscles and i think it helps favor the bone. in cold weather it hurts im always favoring my right knee and adapted to the pain. it will never be the same but if you love what you do try and adapt to the situation.
i developed a pain in my knee when i was 14 from skateboarding. at 15 i piece of bone broke off about the size of a quarter and i was diagnosed with Osteochondritis Dissecans (right knee). i was in such agony after the surgery from the screws i never want surgery again. i was told i would most likely need surgery again in 10 years, i am now 23. i play soccer now and quit the skateboarding after the injury and im hoping it will be another 10 years from now if i need another surgery.
I have this in my right elbow and I had to quit gymnastics two days before my first meet. I miss it so much and I can't go back. I wish it was back to normal. If u get the surgery does it go back to normal because that would be absolutely amazing because I had to quit y favorite thing ;(
awesome verse at the end. i am dealing with this because of playing basketball. i have a scholarship and the doctor seems to be optimistic about the how my surgery went but i hope and pray that i will be able to play but if not that i will be able to handle the situation with a christ like attitude if i can't.
I was diagnosed with this almost two years ago, I had surgery on my left knee last year, I couldn't walm for around 4 or 5 monts but I still have pain; drs told me I need another surgery in the same knee cuz some how there's another loose body in there which is causing the pain...I had Osteochondritis for around 10 yrs but I don't play any sports just the normal activities of an average person. Right now Im 22 yrs old and well I just hope my knee gets fixed cuz the pain is terrible.
i've had this since high school and just now found out about it since i never played sports. i'm 24 and the doctor said i don't need surgery now but later i will. part of my bone is dead, is what he told me, i go back to see him in a month.
