Tamil rebels in Sri Lanka call for ceasefire

The Tamil rebels call for ceasefire is a desperate attempt to save their miserable skins in the face of imminent defeat. The government should rout the Tamils completely who have lost most of their strongholds to the government forces and are now trapped on the silver piece of land. The government must take over the remaining rebel territory at the earliest. The rebel call for a ceasefire showed that they were trying everything militarily and politically to stave off the defeat. The rebels will have to shed their demand for a separate independent Tamil state if they ever wish to have a truce with the government. Besides truce at this point could help the vanquished Tamil rebels to reorganize themselves and mount an offensive.
