  • I am still Defrosting Manually. It has been 5(?) months since the last cycle. Hence, it has been pretty infrequent since the last Action was take. As far as the heating element, I cannot say for sure if it is the heating element, sensor, or motherboard. Going further, it the part which did go bad, was replaced by the same part, then it would probably go bad again as it seems to be a constistent failure across their refrigerators everywhere. Did you try it and what success did you have?

  • Some people are having success by turning it off. However, If you have the Noise, Ice Build Up, and/or Water, you will need to defrost the frig. Either by Unplugging it overnight or Multiple "Manual Defrost" Cycles as in the Video I have shown. Again, I would Run the "Manual Defrost" at the First Sign of Build Up to Maintain good airflow. If the Ice Build Up doesn't show up again - Try Turning the Energy Saver back ON. Reference - Samsung Refrigerator "Manual Defrost"

  • Drag596 - That's great to hear! Of note; my call to Samsung was a long one with Samsung not acknowledging any issues. They did offer to set me up with an expensive service call though. Furthermore, I really don't feel confident Samsung has the adequate service parts, Hence, they may fail yet again! On the good side of things. If you notice the ice building up, run the "Manual Defrost" to keep it clear. That should help. It's great that we've saved the money - I know, I'm back in school again.

  • Jcsz8430, I'm glad it helped!

  • I have found the "Manual Defrost" to be Very Successful. It's too easy to press a few buttons and it fixes the issues. I will get to the root cause and fix it in the future. Unfortunately, I am not looking forward to emptying the Frig, tearing it apart, testing which part needs to be fixed, and waiting for that part to coming in on Special Order. If this is your issue, I hope this helps.

  • So, Are you still manually defrosting this? or did your defrost heating element go out?

  • Hey. I just ran into this same problem. Do I turn off the energy saver button? Turn it on??

  • Thanks for the video and thanks for saving my money . I was about to call Samsung service because of the noise (Samsung's one year warranty expired two weeks ago) and in the last minute I decided to try if somebody had similar issue on the YouTube. It was exactly what you described, fan was rubbing on to ice. I Disconnected the fridge over night, ice melted away and now fridge works completely silent.

  • Thanks for the video. Helped me fix this annoying problem.
