  • Adorable ! Finally, the taboo is broken : she is sensual, sexual, pulpy, alive and in love (her body too...) and so scamp.

Her voice is pure, deep and brilliant.

    Wonderful ! RARE !

  • ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER!

  • Maravilhosa. perfeita

  • @rossifigaro That's not his underwear, that's his hat! If you look at their duet you will see that he throws it off.

    Buon ascolto e viva Verdi!

  • @roykogan i went to the performance on 4/30 (not sure if you attended the same one). filianoti could easily have ruined the whole thing--he cracked twice during la donna e mobile. thank goodness for diana.

  • @roykogan Credit must be paid also to the brilliant Fabio Luisi, who conducted both the Dresden clip here & the performance tonight at the Met (where he had a better orchestra, surely). Were there even other musicians in attendance, besides Luisi & Damrau? Rigoletto was good, the Duke horrifying. A sad day for mediocrity, but who cared? Give us a little sublimity, Peter Gelb, and we'll forgive a lot. Thank you, for Maestro Luisi. And thank you, maestro, for gracing our town.

  • Newsflash--Damrau wove magic at the Met Opera tonight, spun gold, took grip of the audience & had 'em on their feet, at the conclusion of this aria. I haven't witnessed such a burst of applause in a long time, which went on & on, even though she was offstage by aria's end. I've loved this singer for a long time, seen her many times at the Met, even heard her sing Gilda before. But I have never heard her like this! Absolutely at the top of her game. Utterly breathtaking. Thank you Diana.

  • She is a singer AND an actress!! She is complete!

  • i love how you can hear the excitement of love in her voice! fantastic!

  • how bizarre! - is that JDF's underwear she picks up/fondles/sniffs??!!

yes she does have a beautiful voice and does a very credible job here but i've heard voices more suitable/impressive in this aria.

would be interested in knowing who directed/set-designed this production.
