Many of these elevators have very old wood. They are definately symbols of small towns in Canada. The problem is that squatters get in there or even kids playing with matches and burn them down. I've heard of fundraising drives to save them.

Best to get rid of them one way or another, those old wood elevators have a habit of catching fire. A couple of my cousins dismantled one board,by board from the the top down. A lot of home could be built from one, The old wood is hard as steel
