Wow. My three favorite inspirations in one song: Herbie, joni, Elvis.

You've got to be kiddin' me. Was Hancock trying to promote his RIVER album? I don't think Elvis was really ready to do this one. Hancock saved it though. After all he's got an album to sell.

Denzel Washington could easily play Herbie Hancock in a biopic. They look like they could be related.

Is there anything EC can't do musically. I don't think. He just keeps confirming what I've known many years ago. EC is a musical genius. Thanks for sharing this video.

Melody Gardot with Herbie at Abbey Road does performs it way better than Joni..

Here's another attempt at trying to sound cool by singing a cover version of a song that cannot be surpassed. Skip this and go straight to Joni Mitchells original ¦¬D

Have to disagree wholeheartedly that Mitchell's original is a pop song. It's one of her best songs. Elvis does a very good version here, but that's to be expected.

@dancing0being agreed that the original is basically a pop song, but this version really isn't. i don't get the whole thing about "jazz and blues black magic".

Costello is a bit obsessed with jazz and blues black magic (a nice and polite way for me to say when someone has nothing creative to offer). I think it would be nice to wake up a bit. Joni Mitchell created a pop-rock song mainly.

What a vast musical palette you have, Mr. Hancock!
