Instead of talking about "yelling and screaming" and "civilized" society, maybe dude should remember how civilized society has been to the working poor. How civilized society was to Oscar Grant. What happened to Oscar Grant, the attitude, the fact that I'm just hearing about this now, I think that represents a lot of the issues people see every day. I think that's why people don't give a fuck what Dellums says.

I think there are many people in the world, including Oakland, who are tired of fake business representatives trying to pacify their anger. They've been screaming, fighting and dying for change for years, hundreds of years, some of them. To talk about justice when police and political corruption is rampant is not about "feasible" pathways, it's straight up selling out. I think the "chamber of commerce dick in his mouth" was eloquently put. If we understand how politics work, that is.

who is our mayor? i mean he is like the incredible disappearing man.
Dellums is an ineffectual sell-out who equated violence against property with shooting someone in the head.
He's riding on the fumes of what he did twenty+ years ago, so he doesn't have to think too hard about the Chamber of Commerce d!ck in his mouth.

I don't know that I agree with the idea of him being a sell out. I don't know that I like to put things in those terms. I do know that he did a poor job of connecting with this crowd. Scolding people for their language and identifying their concerns (without sharing or engaging them his own understanding of the situation) does nothing to reassure the people. However I do know that he has to choose words wisely.
When did he equate violence against property to Grant's execution?

"At the City Hall news conference, Dellums said the violence was "no different than picking up a gun and blowing somebody's brains out" and asked, "what does that have to do with justice?""
Dellums was a corporate lobbyist. Among others, he lobbied for:
AC Transit, Rolls Royce, Bristol-Myers Squib, Laurence Berkeley Nat'l Labs, SF Intl Airport.
He was used by big companies to overcome opposition from Bay Area activists.

Thank you for the education and for the info from the News Conference.
I feel like a lot of times radical leaders tend to conform later in life because they see a pathway to getting their objectives accomplished that simply isn't feasible when you are so disconnected from the establishment.
Don't make it right but I can understand why that might appear to be a feasible route for some. Why are you such a Dellums history buff? And how do u feel about the actual Oscar Grant situation?
