I have a question... are Ursula and Ariel related? Like an aunt?
I saw that question in a quiz once. But never got the right answer, and in th musical Ursula sings that her father on his deathbed divided the sea into two, her and triton - who also got the trident. Are they siblings?

I love this version better than the final one, with it just being Ariel and Eric, except for the "shackles" bit. I prefer the line about the "silence" being broken instead. It fits into the story better.

is the singer in this Sierra Boggess?

Man, this is actually really well written.

@athiraa in the musical she is ariels aunt, in the movie shes just the evil sea witch who got banished and in the original story shes just a sea witch, she wasnt banished, shes not evil or looking to rule the kingdom she just takes ariels voice in return for ariels three days to try to woo the prince, but if she doesnt shell turn into sea foam, the prince ends up marrying a girl he thinks saved him and ariel ends up almost killing him to save herself but instead doesnt and goes to heaven

@athiraa Ursula is Triton's sister

@athiraa In the movie version, King Triton banished Ursula from his palace, and the sea witch wanted revenge. Simple as that. She could be either version, since there aren't precisions in the scripts revealed.

@athiraa In the musical they are siblings, Triton and Ursula. -Sweet child-"You can't possibly mean... Aunt Ursula?" Though that arguably wasn't always the base for canon :) Some say Ursula was originally meant to have this background where she used to be bitter about her unrequited love for him. I personally prefer the canon established in the musical version.

@WATCHandLEARNxx nooo it's just the difference between broadway's track and the soundtrack's track. i bought The Little Mermaid Original Broadway Soundtrack off of iTunes and Sierra Boggess sings "then the silence would be broken", but the broadway version definitely is "all my shackles, they'd be broken" :P

In Ariel's part, it's not "Then the silence would be broken." from what I hear, it's "All my shackles, they'd be broken."
Just saying :) great slideshow! I love this song!
