Homeward Bound (lyrics)
by Marta Keen

In the quiet misty morning
When the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing
And the sky is clear and red,
When the summer's ceased its gleaming,
When the corn is past its prime,
When adventure's lost its meaning,
I'll be homeward bound in time.

Bind me not to the pasture;
Chain me not to the plow.
Set me free to find my calling
And I'll return to you somehow.

If you find it's me you're missing,
If you're hoping I'll return,
To your thoughts I'll soon be list'ning,
In the road I'll stop and turn.
Then the wind will set me racing
As my journey nears its end,
And the path I'll be retracing
When I'm homeward bound again.

Bind me not to pasture;
Chain me not to the plow.
Set me free to find my calling
And I'll return to you somehow.

In the quiet misty morning
When the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing,
I'll be homeward bound again.

    I'm in 9th grade choir and we're singing this song. Whenever I sing it, I think of my brother's unit in which four soldiers were killed last week. Thanks for the video and thanks for all men and women who have, are, or will be serving in the armed forces. I know that I will serve, if not for liberty than for the sacrifice others have made.

    navyseals ... seal-code-warrior-creed

    If you want to understand what these men believe in .... and this Creed came about after my friend in BUDS 148 even knew about it ... but this is still what they Believe in. We need our Country to believe in this, because our "commander in chief" obviously does not.

    We need to take our Country back again, on beliefs.

    There will always be a need for Armed Forces. Conflict is the human condition. And, God willing, there will always be some of us who answer the call and stand up to take the Oath, to put their lives and their bodies between American civilians and the war's desolation. It is a lonely, austere calling but a proud one...

    I think of the fallen. I think of the broken who have returned. I think of the men I left behind. I feel the longing to be with them again. I know I cannot but the longing is there. I would like to find peace in my life and live it out without forgetting a single moment of a single day.
