it was the day of the afl football grandfinal in 2003.
and what would you rather do?? watch brisbane vs collingwood or go snowboarding?
i was living back in tasmania, and it had it had been dumping, so we loaded up the car and a headed to the snow only 90 minutes drive from the city of hobart.
there was no one else around except some cheering cross country skiiers.
*no lifts.(there are rope tows, but were nonoperational for the season. This particular tow, rodway, operates probably once every 5 years)
*no crowds.
*the only way.
*what a day.

  • @tom3999 charlottes pass and selwyn are like aspen compared to snowboarding in tas in terms of infrastructure etc. check out the two 'resorts' on ski.com.au

better off sticking to thredbo/PB etc or NZ.

Although the last two 'seasons' have seen large dumps and good conditions but you have to really want it to get it.

If your into hiking, then there are tonnes of mtns. Cheers

  • @thisisteeroy hey hows the snow down in tassie? i snowboard the nsw alps, but keen to chek out what its like in taz.

  • Nice cliff drop - well put together and tightly edited. Keep up the great work!

  • Wow I know how tough it is trying to walk up the slopes at mount field, its quite steep as you'll know. In the end it looks like it was all worth it though with some clean snow and the views aren't bad either.

  • I hope they turn the tows on for you then

  • aww gee thanks mate yes every track up there belonged to us. we smashed it to bits. and then went and sessioned a wind lip on the uni tow, before the 'golden stairs' all the way back to the car park.

it will do down in history as one of my top days snowboarding.
