@eandosca I wish that's what it was about! To me, it seems obvious that he is still completely fixated on this person...and he's trying to act like he's doing alright and not thinking of them at all, when really it's the only thing he's thinking about.
I think the best example of that is when after the first chorus he says "I don't get lost in daydreams..." and then trails off as if he's getting lost in a daydream.
Either way, the song is absolutely brilliant.

hmm i dont know..i definitely see the logic in the sarcastic theory, but the melody is kind of triumphant, isnt it? that's why it's called Lately...i always took it to be that moment after a break up mooooonths later when you realize youre not upset about it anymore or do all the things youve been torturing yourself with since it happened...maybe that's just me, though!
