Dr. Mary O'Brien attended the NY premiere of Michael Moore's Sicko. She has practiced medicine in New York City for the past 25 years and works at Columbia Student Health Services. Dr. O'Brien is a board member of the NY Metro Chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program and serves of chair of the media committee. Go to www.pnhpnyc.org or www.sickocure.org
She is an idiot. Im a physician also. The problem with private insurance is not having competition and too much regulation by the government which allows monopoly. In response to nationalized services like police, fire department, and schools we need police and fire department for public safety but the public education has been a debacle. We spent the most out of all of industrilized country per student but scored in the bottom in math and science and reading.

Socialized food already exists, They're called soupkitchens. Many people bankrupt because of healthcare in USA, rely on the soupkitchens for survival...

Simply, because healthcare and food are two completely different things. Lets consider you're logic.
If capitalism is so brilliant, lets condemn people with a curable disease to an early death while prattling on about Jesus all the time. That's after all what he'd have wanted, isn't it?

Dude, you totally didn't watch this clip. I don't give a shit about the illegal immigrants at all, I was only pointing out a contradictory statement made by the Doctor. Anyway, I'll still reject the idea of single payer because competition is crucial to advanced modern medicine.

I am a US/French binational, and the care I got in France while I lived there was always at least as good as the care I get in the US. I never had to wait. Nothing was rationed. My choices were never limited. If you don't believe me, ask other French healthcare consumers directly on the following website: atoute(dot)org.
