  • While the 5.56 has a higher initial velocity, it's tiny lightweight bullet relies on fragmentation to be deadly. Fragmentation stops around 2000 fps (barrel dependant 100-300 yards) with a 5.56. While it still COULD kill beyond that, it has stooped to the effective power of 22mag with FMJ slugs. A 7.62x39 projectile is easily twice the frontal area, larger yet in tumble. Because fragmentation is not required, it is highly lethal down to 800fps at 900 yards, provided You can still hit with it.

  • Halo reach battle rifle

  • @Nationofhonor

Hadn't had my coffee yet. So, here, have a bit of clear headed logic.

If said bullet actually slows down a bit, it won't overpenetrate, which means it's dumping ALL of its energy into the target. Same reason .45ACP is loved by its users so much.

  • @Azereiah Umm, you need to look up bullet velocity statistics more.

  • @QuattroStig Bigger bullet, more accurate by default.

  • As much as i like this gun, don't bull pups tend to have more recoil, if so than I don't think it was a good idea to make it shoot a 308, 5.56 6.8 or 7.62 would do fine

  • this rifle in 223/5.56/7.62x39/5.45x39 would be one of the best infantry rifles ever invented, hands down kel tec

  • @Warpath2198 5.56 carries higher velocity at a greater distance than 7.62X39. How does one get to the conclusion that 7.62X39 has a longer kill range?
