MEDIA CENTER AZ, the leading Video Production and Post Production facility in the US, is now using You Tube as a vehicle to show examples of their abilities, their creative edge, their quality and creative effectiveness for the world to see. This is a very extraordinary art piece. Originally shot on 16mm film, titled "The Mechanical Butterfly" by Allan Dalton in Sedona, AZ, then completely edited by him and finally converted to DV/MPEG-2 stream by MEDIA CENTER AZ in 2006.

  • THIS was made by 'the leading Video Production and Post Production facility in the US'? This looks more like it was produced by the same guys who made the 'Turkish star wars.'

  • "experimental" cinemtographic language is - of course - a language. And the very nature of language is, by definition, a way to communicate ideas. A new, experimental language, is not different matter. It must communicate a message, otherwise it is not a language, it is not a form of expression anymore. Even a new language from Mars must still vehiculate at least 1 idea, otherwise is like a talker who only emits random sounds and say nothing, exactly like a child who's "experimenting".

  • I like the effort, I like the graphical side of it, but it still means nothing. These images do not support any thought, not even a bad one (This could be good in comparison to such alternative). Experimental = "with no direction"? I do not understant: its soundtrack makes sense indeed and is a proper and very elaborated one,so why shouldn't images also be made in order to make sense, instead of being just a flashing support of the music? "Experimental"should imply something new, not mere chaos.

  • I don't think anyone can call any project a "waste of film". If it satisfies the creator's vision or creative urges, then it stands above what anyone else thinks.

  • It could be done as a music video. Still it's experimental. And Experiment is a term for a type of film.

  • What are they experimenting? experiments are made to demonstrate a known truth. This wouldn't be coonsiderd thinking outside the box because their is no thinking involved. It's pure visual garbage.

  • It's called an experimental. Think outside the box for once

  • i hope this is meant to be watched on acid because it makes no sense. No thought has been put into it. There is no drama in it because we can't relate to pictures of zoomed in tile. There's no signs of strife between characters and nothing was solved. waste of film.

  • This is anti-Bush propaganda masquerading as a feeble student film! Notice the brilliance of the camerawork! See the genious behind the seemingly unsteady rack focus technique! And the ape!!! Why does he smile?? Who is he?? I DONT KNOW!

    Oh the drama!

    Oh the scope!

    GENIOUS!!!!!

I once considered myself a true and proper "art fag".

    ....I have been humbled.

    Bow before this....this.....sublime visionary!

(wish it was 30 minutes longer)

  • I'd love to go into a shrink's waiting room some day and this is being projected on the waiting room wall.
