Theodore Ziras-Lick of the Week 89: How to play Faster Part4 - Sextuplets (Alternate Picking)

Lesson Description:
This is a great sextuplets work out for your picking hand.
The lick bases in a Aeolian scale. Typical lick for Neoclassical, Prog Rock and Shred guitarists as
Y Malmsteen, J Petrucci, Michael Romeo, Paul Gilbert etc
Be careful while putting your palm near the edge of the strings in you bridge.
It doesn't matter if your guitar has a "Floyd Rose" type tremolo or fixed bridge.
Try to play with the minimum of movement, this is the safest way to play fast and precise
Follow the tab below. Don't forget, always practice with a metronome. There is no point to play fast and sloppy. For any queries don't hesitate to ask me personally at info@theodoreziras.com

  • its actually 18 nps. sextuplets are pretty easy to devide. 100 bpm is 10nps, 120 bpm is 12, 150bpm is 15, and so on.

  • @timmy47

    Yes ..you are right

  • @tziras Theodore, when you first started playing did you have a natural talent above and beyond that of most people, or did you acquire all of your skill through practice? I have been playing for 12 years now and I don't think that I will ever be able to play anywhere close to your level (not that many people ever come close). I just feel like some people have that extra something. Your talent is amazing, and your videos are amazing, thanks for teaching us all!

  • @ZeMPzo

    i don't believe in talent..

it is only a matter of practicing, i am sure about that 100%

    i don't think i am something special...

it is only hard work and dedicated practicing for a long time

  • @tziras Hello Mr Ziras !! Can i ask you something !? Outside picking and inside picking are a matter of what works better for us !?

I´m asking ´cause i can play sextuplets at 100 bpm playing outside picking now inside picking is harder for me , so should i learn both or should i keep playing outside picking ´cause it´s working for me ?

Thanks a lot for your attention !!

  • @tziras Thanks a lot Mr. Ziras !! That´s what i needed to know !!!

  • in order to play faster I just practiced the same licks day after day after day, till my fingers started hurting like hell. I used a few Jimmy Page licks, like those on the Heartbreaker solo, and I also practiced Highway Star solo a lot, and now I can play them at 80% normal speed, 5 months after picking up the guitar (not bragging) !
