Here we see Ezekiel receiving a call to be a prophet in the Old Testament times. This would not have been an easy thing to do. We find that most who received this call were willing to do anything God asked them to do. Jonah and Baalam were exceptions; however, the rest of those who stood and spoke for God in the time before Christ, proved there willingness to do whatever God asked, by doing it.
Ezekiel is no exception to this. He sees a dramatic vision of God and His throne in chapter one and surrenders himself to whatever God wants. After taking in the Word of God in chapter two, he is now ready to begin the work God has for him. However, God has one more point to make before he gives him his first task. In chapter three, he continues with the lesson of taking in Gods Word, then God explains to him his responsibility as a watchman for Israel.
We as believers are called to be a watchman of this generation. We are the salt of the earth and the light of the the world and are called to live our lives as a testimony to His grace.
