Adopt Sadie - 2 year border-collie/lab dog

After a great deal of consideration, we have decided that we must find Sadie a new home. She is an amazing dog and an important member of our family... but she's afraid of children and our new son Jonah, and we want her to live in a space where she can thrive.

Please send this to anyone who you think may be able to provide our loving, energetic, smart and playful girl the right home. Ideally, this home will be outside of the New York Metro area, have a yard and no other pets or small children living there on a permanent basis. We will give them her bed, crate, toys, treats, etc and will even drive within a few hours to meet them... we just want to find the right people.

Sadie is most likely a Border Collie and Lab (maybe something else?) mix. She's from Tennessee and we adopted her at North Shore Animal League two years ago when she was 3 months old, so we celebrate her birthday on June 21st. She's now just over the age of 2 and weighs 65 pounds.

Things Sadie loves:
Belly rubs, playing fetch, running, hiking (she can be off-leash as she never roams too far), doing tricks for treats (she is very trainable and knows a lot of commands), looking out the window, guarding her home and her people, going to the dog park or doggie daycare, going on long walks, swimming (especially if her people are swimming with her), chasing squirrels, being outside, being with people. She doesn't guard food or toys - in fact, you can take anything away from her at any time. She has never once chewed anything that wasn't hers but she loves to destroy her own toys!

Things Sadie doesn't love:
Children who squeal and dart about, the mailman, people with crazy hats, people she doesn't know on skateboards, motorcycles, having other dogs come into her home - pretty typical stuff

This decision was not made lightly... or easily... and we just want what's best for Sadie.
