Islam & Parents [Must See!]

Among the major sins is disobedience to parents.

Narrated by Abu Bakra (ra) Allah's messenger (saw) said:

"Shall I inform you of the greatest sins and in another variation he repeated this three times. We the companions said, "Certainly, O messenger of Allah! He (saw) said: "Associating anyone with Allah, disobedience to parents".
The prophet sat up straight after he had reclined and added, "And I warn you against false utterance and false witness, "And I warn you against false utterance and false witness".
The messenger of Allah (saw) kept saying that warning until we thought that he would not stop".

i think a child's rationality should be encouraged by any parent by allowing their children to debate with them freely. only if the parent can defend and explain her/his instructions is she/he truly qualified to be a parent. in my experience, children sometimes think more clearly than their parents because they haven't been exposed to the same prejudices. i think instilling fear of questioning one's parents discourages children from thinking for themselves at an early age.

What a wonderful passage , this type of respect and love should be applied to not only your parents but every human being on this earth , regardless of creed, color , faith ..after all he is the creator of all and not just a selected few

It's still your father. It could be hard for some, but be good with your parents and keep the contact with them. Allah knows everything.

Asalamoualaikoum---i am confused what if your father has left u and neglected you since a baby and only your mother has cared for you. it says in the video that if u break contact with ur father ur prayers will not be accepted (1.50) but wat if ur father has broken contact with u. Jazakallah
