NASHUA -- Area teams Waverly-Shell Rock, Nashua-Plainfield, North Butler and Clarksville cross country raced each other, along with Rockford, Tuesday at Nashua Town and Country Club golf course.
In a much smaller meet, varsity and junior varsity ran together in both the girls' and boys' races at the Nashua-Plainfield Invitational.
The Go-Hawk girls took the varsity crown from the host Huskies by 10 points (27-37), while the N-P boys beat out the Go-Hawks for the top spot, 24-40, and won their own meet for the first time.
"Coach Rahmiller has her team running well, and they should be very competitive when they go into the state qualifying meet," said W-SR boys' coach Kevin Kueker. "I don't think we would have caught them in the team standings even if we were full strength."
Individually, senior Stacey Krull won her second race for the Go-Hawks, finishing four seconds ahead of Bearcat sophomore Emily Campbell for the top spot (16:18 and 16:22).
Standout senior runner Daniel Huff, who managed to take fourth Saturday among some of the best runners in the Midwest, cruised to his fifth first-place finish of the season.
