Nothing like the City in those days, City of Paris, Woolworths, Blums, Roos Atkins, the Magnin stores, Playland at the Beach, Willie Mays, McCovey, Kezar Niners, Herb Caen. Beautiful melody for a beautiful city! Thanks for posting!
In the days before internet, CD's and other forms of readily available music, particularly jazz, KSFO was the place to be. On a good "skip" night, I could tune in a strong signal from the Central Valley. This was one of my favorite sign offs - I appreciate it being posted. Brought back some great memories!
The glory days of "The World's Greatest Radio Station"! Then it was part of Gene Autry's "Golden West Broacasting" chain. Back then KSFO had a super roster of talent: Jim Lange, Gene Nelson, Don Sherwood, Carter B. Smith, Giants & 49ers.
And the best station jingles ever! Those were the days!!!
Don Sherwood died 25 years ago. I called the station and asked them if they were going to honor him somehow but as far as I know they didn't do it.
