Campus Progress travelled down to New Orleans back in January 2008 to catch up on the recovery efforts in the Big Easy. So who's leading the charge? Hint: It's not the government.

  • Correction: This video refers to Angela Jolie as the wife of Brad Pitt. In fact, Jolie and Pitt are a couple, but they are not married. We regret the error.

  • Bush caused Katrina, am I right CampusProgress?

    lol

  • Ironic! The same organizations that promote big government programs and entitlements are showing how much better personal charity and private funding is much better then relying on Government! Incredible!!!

  • like i always say they all want us to stay poor u can't have more

  • They need the Dutch to come in and rebuild all the levees,

  • The gov't sent money, which is exactly what our loacal political leaders wanted. Mayor Nagin, rather than accept a $21-million dollar deal for a Houston based firm to buy, and remove all of the water damaged cars from N.O., payed $5-million to have them removed by a long time friend and business associate.

The city gov't waisted, or stole most of the money, and the residents got almost nothing. That's my opinion, because I live here...

  • Man, give me one part of that city and I will build the city of the future!

  • that particular section consisted mainly of older wooden structures in very poor repair,b4 the storm.many of these homes had been passed down through generations.people could barely afford to buy food out of the meager social security checks.there was no money for insurance or repairs.the road home program took almost 2 years to start passing out funds to help these people.some people were only awarded $5-$10,000.what can you build with that.

  • That's why I had so much fun as a frog.

It wasn't the government. It's humans...

    See ya! Bye!
